What do night shifts, Bebo Norman and fruit snacks have in common?

They are all the reasons I am still awake right now at midnight!

I know I slept alone for nearly 25 years before I married Adam but now the thought of going to bed by myself makes me just want to stay up. I actually think I feel more in control when I am awake. Like if someone were to intrude I would be more able to handle it. Ha...like I could handle an intruder! Let's just pray that never happens. I typically go to bed really late when Adam is not around and I dont fully know why. Tonight, however, I have a couple other reasons.

Rylie, Harper and I went to a free concert of Bebo Norman's on Lake Michigan. It was awesome! Pretty small and there was grass all around for Rylie to play in while I listened to the music. The funny part is, I happen to park our transformer (that's what I call our double stroller) in the 2 month section. There were 3 other women with 2 month olds! One with more hair than Harper!! Though hers was way more tame then Harper's craziness, they actually totally looked like twins. Weird!

We sat kind of behind and off to the side of the stage and after the concert Bebo walk behind the stage and stopped right in front of us. A line quickly formed behind me and as I got the girls back into the transformer I found myself next in line. Talk about right place at the right time. I have always wanted to say hi to him but never wanted to wait in line. So here was my chance.

Bebo used to play at the camp I grew up on. This was, as Bebo told me this evening, 16 years ago. Anyways, I told him that it was fun to see him again and that hearing his songs always brings me back to my childhood and the wonderful memories I have living at the camp. He was excited to meet me again and asked if I could stick around to talk but I had to get the girls back and to bed but not before we took a picture.

Just relaxing and enjoying the music and bread!
I am laughing because we took it of ourselves and I am not very good at doing that. He seemed like a pro.

For our picnic I packed Rylie and I some freshly made banana bread (thank you Mary for your recipe). YUMMY!
Rylie didn't finish hers so once we were back in the car I asked if she would like it. She said no so naturally I ate it. Who could resist?! Ten minutes later, guess what she wanted, and wanted bad! oops! So, I kindly offered her fruit snacks instead and after a little coercion she accepted. However, what I didn't know was that the fruit snacks had melted. Now, if you don't know what melted fruit snacks are like let me describe it to you. Remember Gak? Yeah...nasty, gooey, slimy Gak! Its like that only REALLY STICKY. So, if you can only imagine a two year old with something like that! She actually genuinely wanted to eat it, but when she got it out of the wrapper it was too sticky. She started telling me at first that she couldn't get it off of her hands but she quickly got agitated and started yelling and crying. It really bothered her that she couldn't get it off. She then tried to use her feet but that backfired. The more Rylie got worked up about it the funnier I thought it was. I was trying so hard not to laugh but it was pretty ridiculous. When I was finally able to pull over to get wipes to help clean it up we realized a bigger problem then we thought. This stuff was not coming off without a good soak. Poor Rylie had to ride the rest of the 40min drive back home a big gooey mess. I felt really bad for her. She was so bothered by it but I told her that it was annoying for the moment but tomorrow we would think it was funny and we can call everyone and tell them about it. That lightened the mood a bit. So, don't be surprised if you get a phone call from little Rylie wanting to tell you "something funny" tomorrow.

Do you see the giant blob of fruit snack on the foot? Nasty!!
She couldn't get her toes apart because it had hardened!

After all the excitement you would think I would just crash but NOOO. I guess I just got to hyped up. :)

  2. Hahaha - I just couldn't stop laughing at this post. Mostly because I was thinking that every mom has probably had that moment where you glance over your shoulder and your eyes go wide and you try to calmly say "WHAT are you DOING?!" :) it looks like such a fun night though - you are such a good mom!! xoxo

  3. I never would have been up to making a 40 minute drive alone with a newborn that age--you're amazing! The feet glued together picture was cracking me up--hilarious! Does Harper's hair do that all by itself or does it get help? Tyn is still bald. Miss you guys!
