Sugar Cookies

For some reason, I remember decorating Christmas cookies as being a much easier project than what I experienced. Mom, you must have figured out the key to sucessfully keeping us entertained till the bitter end. Please share!

Notes for next time:

1. Pre-bake cookie dough - toddlers do not have the patience to wait for them to bake and cool before decorating.
2. Pre-make frosting - toddlers using food coloring is just asking for disaster! (though we did avoid all disasters but not without great stress and anxiety).
3. Have no other distractions - toddlers left alone with powdered sugar...do I need to continue?
4. Do not set camera next to baby - curious baby hands can knock expensive cameras off the counter! Don't worry it still works, but there was about a 20 minute scare before it started working again.
5. Leave the cleanup to the adults - helpful toddlers try to create a new Great Lake when doing dishes.
6. Don't decorate cookies right before nap time - toddlers experiencing sugar highs does not equal peaceful transition to rest time.

Classic! "Wait, wait, wait, Rylie!"

And this is what you get when you try to take a picture. Sprinkles anyone?

Moral of the story:

Relax and enjoy the memory making moments with family no matter how stressful it can be! And plan better next year!!
