Anonymous Giving

The other day we received an anonymous gift card in the mail to my favorite grocery store down the street!! What a fun surprise!

When I was a kid my sister, brother and I would earn quarters for reading books, doing chores, being sweet (of coarse I was the only one that got those quarters! haha) and as a bribe to do what we were supposed to. You know, like giving dad a head rub. Gross!! LOL!

We used to store the money in a jar and when it was finally full we all decided on a gift we could give someone anonymously. It was a very powerful learning experience and I was thinking it would be good to start introducing this idea to Rylie. Also it was a good reminder that I would like to practice not getting the credit. Its easy to give when people know it comes from me but its been a while since I have done something in secret just to be an encouragement.

Thank you to the person who gave us the gift card and thank you for the reminder!

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." -Matthew 6:2-4

  1. What a cute idea ... We'll keep it in mind for the future :) Does Rylie "get it" yet?
