Here is what my house looks like now:
This is somewhat of a miracle as you will read later.
Rylie has been consistently waking up at night either because she is hungry (not surprising since she is completely boycotting meal time these days) or from nightmares. About a week ago Harper woke up around 4am to nurse and as I rolled over to check the time Rylie was just standing beside my bed looking at me. I almost jumped out of my skin!! haha Since then we have had the battle of "STAY IN YOUR ROOM" almost every nap and bedtime. Its actually pretty humorous because at first she kept scaring us and now she thinks she is being smart and sneaking out of her room without us noticing but we can her little feet pitter patter and we have the monitor on in her room still. She always looks at me like, "how did you know?"
We have started Rest Time this week instead of Nap Time. Rylie makes that very clear. She is allowed to play in her room quietly, read books or take a nap. She can choose but she has to stay in her room for an hour. I play instrumental worship music very quietly that she has to be able to hear or she is being too loud. Nap time has been slowly becoming a thing of the past for Rylie but the crazy thing is that if she does fall asleep she still sleeps for 3 hours. I would have guessed that the transition would have been more gradual (i.e. shorter naps every day until they just fade out). But what am I saying? She is totally my child...all or nothing!
Today was definitely a struggle to get her to stay in her room for rest time. Last I left her she was "NOT TIRED!!" and "Staying right here!" (sitting on the floor by the door). So imagine my surprise when it got quiet and I went to check on her. I figured she had fallen asleep on the floor but no she is all tucked in with her animals watching her sleep peacefully and her bedtime to do list safely on her pillow next to her. What a goof!
Harper is trying hard to roll over!! She loves grabbing her feet. Its so cute!! Its getting cold here so I get to put her in some of Rylie's old cuddly outfits. I love them!! She wont last long in them though, she is getting too tall. Also her hair has started to be more tame. I am grieving this big time! I loved her crazy standing up everywhere hair, but I will say it is helpful for getting through public places faster now that its not drawing as much attention.
I had a potluck at my house last night for the class we joined at our church. It is a coed class but only the women came. Poor Adam!! He just played in the basement with the Rylie and Harper and then put them to bed himself. Both of them! That was a first. It started at 6:30 and I finally had to kick people out at 10! It was very fun. I can tell God really orchestrated our get together. Every single woman is in a time of transition and feeling lonely. I love the way God provides for our every need. :)
